About Us

Piccolo Orso is a small family kennel that strive for excellence.  We are producing a maximum of 1 litter per year.

Our goal is to produce the very best Newfoundland dogs for Show, Work and Companionship.

All of our puppies are born and raised in the house with us until they leave to join their family.

Each of our puppies are evaluated individually to determine all of their best qualities.

This allows us to find the best possible home for our dogs.

Selecting our families is an important task that we perform very carefully.

We will ask questions and we will invite you to come and visit us.  We will not sell a puppy over the phone.

NO PUPPY MILLS & NO PET SHOPS!!

The Newfoundland dogs that are part of our breeding program have been evaluated on many criteria:

  • Health

  • Hips, Elbows  and Heart with the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animal

  • Cystinuria (HealthGene Laboratories)

  • Temperament

  • Structure

  • Movement

  • Pedigree

All of our puppies adopted from our home will leave Piccolo Orso with:

  • Canadian Kennel Club Registration

  • Microchip

  • Written sale contract

  • Written guarantee

  • Non breeding contract

  • First shots / Wormed

  • Health record delivered by our Veterinarian

  • 6 weeks Pet Plan Insurance

Unfortunately because of the high amounts of puppies abandoned and euthanized each year at the Humane Society, we ask that all our puppies adopted at our home be spayed/neutered before the age of 9 months.  Canada is a country where the law to protect our animals are not severe enough.  We feel it is our duty and responsibility to protect all of our Newfoundland's from any undesired breeding where the purpose of it is only for the fun of having puppies and to make $$$

If it is your desire to have a show/breeding Newfoundland please note that:

  • The dog can only be adopted on a co-breeding contract

  • The dog can be adopted on a non-breeding contract until he reaches all health clearances at the age of 2 years old.

We have taken the decision to be co-owners on all our Newfoundland's destined for show/breeding purposes for the following reasons:

  • To protect all of our Newfoundland's from any unplanned, undesired breeding

  • To make sure that all puppies will be registered with the Canadian Kennel Club

  • To protect our lines

  • To protect all of the work we have accomplished over the years
